![]() ![]() There were no protests or riots for Mitrice, no real outcry from our communities. This painting and story is as relevant now as it was then. He sealed her story in time with his paintbrush and canvas. He painted an image of a faceless woman upon the backdrop of the Malibu coastline and named it for her, Mitrice Richardson. So Noah went into his studio to explore these feelings of frustration. We wondered why no one was talking about Mitrice, why the news coverage was nil, why no one cared or was enraged that this young woman went missing and was forgotten. ![]() We felt in our hearts that the police were complicit or even guilty of murder. We knew that any time a black person has a run-in with the police, there is always a chance of harassment or death. We knew she wasn’t coming home and that her body was somewhere below in the brush. Noah and I would always acknowledge her spirit when we drove through that canyon. ![]()
